Persistence

12

Do you know what it truly means - to hold on?

Absolution is calling. It would be so much easier to let go - to release the grip that makes your fingers ache and bleed, your whole life suspended by these small, trembling points of contact.

There is temptation in resting. Denying your impact. Temptation in surrender. In letting fate decide.

I. Will. Never.

Do you understand the weight of knowing that all ends if you loosen your grip? The torment, having no strength left to pull yourself up - yet still, to hold on?

Because giving up is not an option. Because you promised yourself and others. Because even facing the abyss, you believe.

Don’t betray yourself. Betray gravity! Betray the dark cloud pulling on your feet instead.

What a bittersweet illusion - that the opposite of falling is flight. When in truth, it is grip. To bear your own weight.

The weight of love. The weight of dignity. Decision and consequence. The meaning of promise.

I remember feeling the opposite of falling.

I am Persistence.

Have you ever truly known me?
